Cosco Shipping Ports ABU Dhabi Terminal, located in ABU Dhabi Caliphate Port, is a joint venture between COSCO Shipping Ports and ABU Dhabi Ports Authority. It opened in December 2018 with a designed annual handling capacity of 2.5 million TEUs. At present, the terminal has opened more than 20 international routes, connecting more than 60 ports. Chen Yuping, general manager of COSCO Shipping Port ABU Dhabi Terminal Co., LTD., said that as an important project of China-Arab cooperation, COSCO Shipping Port ABU Dhabi Terminal has played a positive role in helping Khalifa Port rank among the top 50 ports in the world. In the first six months of this year, the terminal achieved throughput growth of more than 35 per cent compared with the same period last year. In the future, the terminal will be committed to building a smart port - upgrading port automation facilities and continuing green, low-carbon emission reduction, contributing to China-Arab cooperation to jointly build the "Belt and Road".
Mohamed Blaki, representative of ABU Dhabi Ports Authority and deputy general manager of the terminal, said that the cumulative throughput of 5 million TEUs at the ABU Dhabi Terminal of COSCO Shipping Port is a milestone in the operation of the terminal and reflects the joint efforts of both sides. It is believed that with the deepening of practical cooperation between Albania and China, the operation of the terminal will usher in a better tomorrow.
